Random events

Well we just got back from a trip to California where we visited Mahlon's older sister and her new baby. He's such a cutie. He was born about 6 weeks early so he's now almost 6 weeks old; (he was due June 3rd) he now weighs about 5lbs. It's crazy to think that even at 6 weeks old he is still smaller than Madison was when she was born! Madison didn't quite know what to think of him. She would get excited and want to look at him, then when he didn't do anything after a second or two, even after she poked him, she would get bored and move on to something else more exciting. We had a fun, relaxing time-eating out, shopping, and watching lots of movies. We took the camera every where we went but never got it out...so here's one of the few pictures we did get.

Madison with her new cousin Jaxon

Also, the other day I came around the corner and laughed out loud when I saw Madison lounging in her bumbo chair, backwards. I don't know how she got in there like that, but it was too cute! When I took the pictures she was looking at me like "what's the big deal, mom?"

So Mahlon got a new video camera for a graduation present, I was so excited to be able to take videos of Madison! (I think I was more excited about Mahlon's gift than he was!) I've been trying to figure out digital video, so hopefully I can upload it correctly....we'll see. (11:32pm update: I've been uplaoding for a while now and wished I had started the video upload first, so it could be loading while I typed out my post. It's taking forever! Lesson learned. Hopefully it's not to big for you all to upload and view...)(still waiting...5 hours later. j/k, but it is taking an annoyingly long time, does it always take this long?) (11:53pm...still waiting.) Now it's "Processing Video"-Argh!

uh...I don't think it worked. : ( (note it's 12:15am) Sorry, all that build up for nothing. I don't know what went wrong?!

Family Fun Day

( Sorry this picture is so small! : ( )
Yesterday was Mahlon's last day of school and was supposed to be my last day of work, but I ended up having the whole week off, which was nice, but to celebrate we decided to take a day and have some fun. We decided to go to a movie, becuase on the weekends you can go before noon and only pay $5 a ticket. We planned on seeing The new Chronicls of Narnia movie but when we got there the ticket guy said there were still a lot of tickets available for the new Indiana Jones movie. We are both huge Indiana fans so we opted to see this instead, we just figured it would have been packed, but since it wasn't we jumped at the chance. We didn't have to wait in line, and we got front row seats (I guess not a lot of people could skip school/work to see Indiana Jones at 10:45am-even if it was opening weekend) Anyway, I thought it was good (I only missed a little bit to change a diaper and walk with a crying baby). The first three are great, Classics, so it's hard to compare, but I really enjoyed this new one. Plus, it was fun to see something new from Dr. Jones, although there were some pretty unbelievable parts, I'd still give it a thumbs up. Too bad Harison Ford is so much older though, I'm only in love with the younger, more dashing Indiana.

Anyway, after the movie we grabbed some Subway for lunch and headed to the bowling alley for some .99/game fun- quite a deal! We were kicking ourselves for not bringing a camera (I know Carrie, I need to take a camera EVERYWHERE!) Madison was being so cute for awhile, clapping for us and giving High fives, but later got pretty cranky as the effects of a shortened nap kicked in, but we still had a great time. I am absolutely the worst bowler, and got worse the more I played my scores: 86, 71, 65 (too bad its not a lowest score wins game). Mahlon however did much better, getting a 171 on his last game! His score was generally about twice what mine was, all the way to the end. Oh, well.

It was so fun to spend some time together as a family, a much needed break from the stress of school and work. I wish everyday could be like this!

Graduation!

Mahlon Graduated Thursday from the U of A with a Bachelors in Art Education. We are so excited to finally both be done with school (for now anyway!) I am so proud of him, he worked very hard to finish, and I'm proud of him for not quiting! Also, we found out he passed his tests so he is now an offical, certified teacher! Yeah! Now he just has to get a job! Great Job Mahlon!

Twice the Fun!

Monday my cousin Deedra came to visit us and she brought along her beautiful twin girls! Kenyon and Kaydee are just a couple months younger than Madison. We had a lot of fun, Madison especially loved having playmates that were smaller than her.

Monday we took the girls shopping. I wasn't going to get Madison anything, but I came home with two outfits and two pairs of capri's. I couldn't resist the Sales! Also, these sunglasses were a must!

Later that night, after a long day of playing it was time for a bath! Rub-a-dub-dub, three babes in a tub!

Tuesday got pretty wild with four little ones roaming around, but we all had a great time visiting and playing. Thanks Deedra for coming to visit!

The whole group!

Kenyon, so sweet!

Welcome back!

I know I've been away from the blogger world for a while, I mean it's been almost two weeks! You all must feel like I have forgotten about you! Well, actually, it's just been such a crazy couple of weeks I haven't had time to post anything, but I have a lot to update about.
Over the weekend we went to Gilbert to visit Mahlon's family. We had a baby shower for his sister Mandy, unfortunately she wasn't able to make it from California due to high blood pressure so we had a virtual baby shower with her on the web cam! We had fun swimming, and I finally tried the famous Guitar Hero! I was actually pretty good at it (if I do say so myself!) It was a fun weekend, but we missed Mandy and her husband Vic!

Welcome to the world Jaxon!
Monday Mandy was admitted into the hospital (high blood pressure) and went into labor. Her little man Jaxon Alexander Welsh was born Tuesday, April 29 weighing 4 lb. 6oz, 18 inches long. We are so excited to have a new little cousin/nephew. We're praying for mom and baby to recover quickly so that they can go home and be together! Congratulations Mandy and Vic!

Wednesday I took the kido's to the Zoo with some sisters in my new ward as a "play date", I brought the camera, but it never came out to take pictures. It's hard to push a stroller with one little one riding, while carring another in a front pack and take pictures! But they loved looking at the animals! At first they didn't know why we were staring through a fence at trees and they would both be distracted looking at the other kids, then they would suddenly notice the animal (the ones that were moving) and Madison would point and sqweal. Jacob would look back at me from the stroller with this wide eyed look that said "did you see that? Whoa!" It was too cute. They especially loved the giraffes, peacocks and the ostrich. Afterwards, we had a picnic at the park next to the zoo, most of the other women were too tired so they went home but I had packed a lunch so we were going to have a picnic. This sounded like a good idea, but I quickly realised that trying to feed two unrestrained toddlers, while trying to keep abnoxiously friendly ducks away is next to impossible, so again, the camera didn't come out! It was a whilwind of a day and we all three took a nap when we got home, but it was fun to get out and have some fun for a change!

Anyway, that's pretty much what we've been up to lately! I'll try to get back into the groove and start posting more often!
