Play time

From the time she was a newborn, Madison has always preferred to be sitting up rather than laying back. Before she could hold her head steady, when I would put her in a reclining position such as in the car seat or in her "babypapasan" she would struggle to lift her head in an attempt to sit up. I always got a kick out of what looked like "little crunches". Now that she can hold her head steady we prop her up either in the chair or on the couch, but she gets fussy and squirmy, or falls over because she can't hold herself in a sitting position ans seems frustrated by her lack of strength. One night while trying to keep our hands free to eat dinner she was fussing in her propped position,Mahlon said to her "you just want to sit up, don't you" -that's when I got the idea to use the boppy. I put it around her waist which gave her the support she needed to stay "sitting". She instantly was satisfied and we were able to eat dinner. Now it's one of her favorite ways to hang out or play with her toys. I just think it is so cute to see her sit up with her little head sticking out the top and he feet hanging out the bottom! I love it, so I had to snap a few pictures.

Yummy!

Madison had her first experience with food today. I think she did well. Although, they say to make it with so much liquid at first that it was more like drinking from a spoon rather than eating. She enjoyed it for awhile and seemed to be trying to figure it out, then as she got more hungry she became a little impatient with the slow delivery and started to fuss. I'm excited to see her take this small step towards independence and experience new things, perhaps I'm a little too excited as I will really have to hold back from bringing on too much too soon. I love food so I am excited to share with her and let her experience the joy of real food!

The Zoo & other Stuff

Madison and I took a little trip to the Zoo with my sister, her kids and some of their friends. We had a good time-I enjoyed the fresh air and animals,Madison enjoyed the toy she brought along (I couldn't get her to look up for a picture) and a nap! We'll try it again sometime when she becomes more interested in the world outside of her stroller!

Madison turned 4 months old yesterday and to celebrate I took her to the Pediatrician for her second round of immunizations (I'm such a mean mom!) I cried again. She had a little fever today, but seamed less bothered by the pain this time around. I was mostly interested in how much she's grown- she is now 12lb 10oz, and is 23in long! She's almost double her birth weight! Time has passed so quickly, she's been given the OK to start eating food- well, cereal anyway but we haven't tried it yet. I did take her to the store to buy new spoons, bowls and a new outfit- this is really how we celebrated! I'm just waiting for a good day, maybe tomorrow, to try out the cereal- I'll post pictures! In the mean time enjoy these!

Brrrrr!

We just got home from our weekend trip to Flagstaff. We really enjoyed the cool mountain weather. It was so beautiful to see the snow frosted mountains and the changing leaves.

It was so cute to see Madison all bundled up ready for winter- she finally got to wear the sweater, booties and hat that I had been saving for cold weather. She'll probably grow out of them before she wears it again! We went up to the Peaks and she did so well in the cold and wind, although after awhile she did express her desire to stay in the car where it was warm.
We had a great time visiting family. It was nice to be home!
